Faculty members with federal grants are required to submit grant effort reports at least twice a year. We suggest that you update your reports monthly when paying yourself, technicians, students — anyone who is paid from the grant. The grant effort reporting process is online.

- select the “Williams Provost” link
- select Grants Self-Service
- in the top box, Grant Fiscal Year, type in the appropriate year and click search
- select the desired grant
- go to the “instructions” tab and read them
- return to the main page by hitting the ‘back’ arrow or clicking the “Principal Investigator” tab
- complete the conflict of interest form and click the “save” button at the bottom left
- click on the “effort percentages” tab and choose the “Employee Type” from the drop down box
- go to the magnifying glass beside the EmplID box and type in the employee’s name in the “Name” box
- click on the correct name, this will return you to the effort percentages screen
- select the appropriate effort period for each employee from the drop down box
- enter the appropriate percentage in the “Effort Percent” box (follow directions from the instructions tab)
- to add a row for more than one employee, click on the “+” sign to the right of the comments box and repeat steps 9 to 13 for every employee (be sure to include yourself)
